Veterans make their way onto the Odyssey Golf Foundation course to begin their day on the links.

The 2017 golf season is officially underway and open to the public at the Odyssey Golf Foundation and the links are already warming up with golfers.

On April 17th the first Veteran’s Golf Outing took place with an at-capacity attendance, and the event lineup to Memorial Day includes outings on May 1st, 15th and 30th. “We’ve already scheduled more than 20 Veteran’s outings this season, up from 15 last year.” noted Lisa Halikias, Executive Director of the Foundation. Czech Republic’s Klára Spilková Accepts Sponsor Exemption to 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (April 25, 2017) – Klára Spilková, the first-ever Czech Republic golfer to win a professional golf event, has accepted a special exemption to compete in the 2017 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, June 29 – July 2, at Olympia Fields (Illinois) Country Club.

Spilková, 22, who represented the Czech Republic in the 2016 Olympic Games, will be making her second consecutive appearance in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship after receiving an exemption last year. Spilková captured the Lalla Meryem Cup on April 16, in Morocco, edging out two-time major champion Suzann Pettersen by one stroke. Following this win, Spilková currently sits atop the Ladies European Tour’s Order of Merit and is in 10th place on the European Solheim Cup Qualification Ranking. Continue reading

Eaglewood 1st HoleOne glance at the Eaglewood scorecard and doubts immediately popped into my mind. A par 72 course that tops out at a few steps over 6,000 yards is plenty long for this 20 handicap golfer, but how does it defend itself against better golfers armed with 21st century technology? Surprisingly, pretty well, as the resort course in Itasca more than holds its own against all but the very best players. The 60 plus bunkers are menacingly deep and ideally placed, the three ponds and meandering creek at the north end of the course are true hazards, and the sloping greens are perilous from above the hole.
