California’s famed LaCosta was one of our favorite stops during our coast to coast golf tour.

Our latest, extended travels to golf destinations are over now, and they were unprecedented. We were basically on the road for six months – from Oct. 1 to April 10 – and made visits to destinations in Nebraska, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California. Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and Indiana.
We covered about 14,000 miles on this all-driving odyssey and hit 18 destinations with a lengthy stay in Winter Haven, FL., in between – a period during which we tested a number of golf facilities in the Orlando area. All were chronicled in my reports and Joy’s photos. Continue reading

What exactly is the Web.com Tour?
Many casual golf fans probably do not know that much about the Web.com Tour. First off, alumni of the tour include PGA Tour superstars Jim Furyk, Zack Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Brandt Snedeker and current world #1 and Masters favorite, Jason Day.
Right now much of Chicago has Cubs fever. To put in terms relative to baseball, the Web.com Tour is the AAA league of professional golf. Continue reading

Eight nations to compete for second UL International Crown at Merit Club in July

After the conclusion of the ANA Inspiration, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced the eight countries that will compete in the second playing of the UL International Crown, which will be held on July 21-24 at the Merit Club outside Chicago.
Based on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, the eight countries that will compete in the second playing of the UL International Crown are – Republic of Korea, United States, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, England, China and Australia.
Team Australia was the last team in with 390 points, edging out ninth place Sweden by a mere eight points. The defending champions, Spain, did not qualify and finished in 11th place 96 points out of the final spot. Continue reading
